Emma and Matilda’s Pretty Muddy Race for Life July 2023

Following on from our Long Distance Running and Taking Care of your Feet blog in April, we have an update about how Emma and Matilda got on in their Pretty Muddy Race for Life in July!

Emma is one of our lovely receptionists at YPL, she took on the challenge of taking part in the Pretty Muddy Race for Life on Sunday 2nd July this year, with her daughter Matilda, in aid of Cancer Research. Emma has always done a lot of walking for fitness and pleasure but she’s not a runner. She has enjoyed daily walking, which has helped her mental fitness, as part of her recovery programme after treatment for bowel cancer in 2021/2022.

Emma trained hard for the Pretty Muddy race, as she was determined to complete the 5K course on the day, along with Matilda. She looked after her feet well, in preparation for the big day.

On the day of the race, the sun was shining and there was a great atmosphere. Emma and Matilda thoroughly enjoyed taking part, they had great fun, laughing all the way round the course! They got caked in mud and had buckets of water thrown over them, which they said was actually quite refreshing!

Emma said she was so pleased to take part in such an event, as she’s not done anything like it before. Whilst having fun and supporting such an amazing charity, Emma managed to run more of the course than she had imagined she would, so it was a great achievement for her.

In sponsorship and donations from friends, family, colleagues and our amazing YPL patients, Emma and Matilda have so far raised a staggering £1,300 for Cancer Research, with more donations still coming in! Emma would like to say a big THANK YOU to our wonderfully kind and supportive patients at YPL, who have generously sponsored her.

WELL DONE Emma and Matilda for this fantastic achievement!! Emma says she can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Finalist at the 2023 FSB Awards - York Podiatry Ltd

FSB North Yorkshire and Humber Awards 2023

As Finalists in the category of Larger Small Business of the Year, team YPL were honoured to attend the awards lunch on Friday 25th February 2023 at the beautiful Queens Hotel in Leeds.

It was quite the adventure getting there with our first train being cancelled, then getting stranded mid-journey due to a car colliding with a bridge (pleased to report no major injuries occurred).

We arrived in the nick of time and spent the most wonderful afternoon with some really inspiring fellow business owners, and entrepreneurs.

Although we did not win our category, we all still felt like winners just getting to the final. WIth fabulous food, fantastic company and in beautiful surroundings, what a great way to spend a Friday afternoon!!

York Podiatry Ltd Team alignment day

YPL Team Alignment Day - 2022

The team had a fantastic away day in October. It is great to get everyone together, quite a feat when we all work different days in different locations!

With lots of fun and our creative juices flowing, we spent the day not only building marshmallow and spagetti towers but discussing our values, our mission, where we are and what we would like to achieve both personally and professionally over the coming months. Be it looking into developing new treatments and services to planing the next team event!

A lot of fun and giggles were had along the way, with a lovely lunch provided by the Fabulous Jug and Bottle of Bubwith, all finished off with escape room game which sadly neither of the teams were successful in escaping!!

York Hygiene Bank

York Podiatry Ltd is proud to become a local drop off site to support this worthy cause.

We believe it is not right that feeling clean should be a luxury or privilege in modern society. That is why this charitable network of projects exists - to give people access to the basics they need.
The Hygiene bank was set up to fill the void that with items that are often not collected by food banks but that are typically the 1st things people cut down on buying when money gets tight i.e. deodorant, toothbrushes, shampoo, period products, razors, household cleaning products etc etc
We are now acting as a drop off point in York for hygiene products to be delivered to 2 community partners:
-Kitchen for Everyone and
- The Island
We welcome donations from anyone at our York branch on Boroughbridge Road and hopefully soon our Selby branch too.
Thank you in advance for any contributions you are able to make to this wonderful charity.

Take a look at the Hygiene Bank website at https://thehygienebank.com/get-involved/ for further information.
