Emma and Matilda’s Pretty Muddy Race for Life July 2023
Following on from our Long Distance Running and Taking Care of your Feet blog in April, we have an update about how Emma and Matilda got on in their Pretty Muddy Race for Life in July!
Emma is one of our lovely receptionists at YPL, she took on the challenge of taking part in the Pretty Muddy Race for Life on Sunday 2nd July this year, with her daughter Matilda, in aid of Cancer Research. Emma has always done a lot of walking for fitness and pleasure but she’s not a runner. She has enjoyed daily walking, which has helped her mental fitness, as part of her recovery programme after treatment for bowel cancer in 2021/2022.
Emma trained hard for the Pretty Muddy race, as she was determined to complete the 5K course on the day, along with Matilda. She looked after her feet well, in preparation for the big day.
On the day of the race, the sun was shining and there was a great atmosphere. Emma and Matilda thoroughly enjoyed taking part, they had great fun, laughing all the way round the course! They got caked in mud and had buckets of water thrown over them, which they said was actually quite refreshing!
Emma said she was so pleased to take part in such an event, as she’s not done anything like it before. Whilst having fun and supporting such an amazing charity, Emma managed to run more of the course than she had imagined she would, so it was a great achievement for her.
In sponsorship and donations from friends, family, colleagues and our amazing YPL patients, Emma and Matilda have so far raised a staggering £1,300 for Cancer Research, with more donations still coming in! Emma would like to say a big THANK YOU to our wonderfully kind and supportive patients at YPL, who have generously sponsored her.
WELL DONE Emma and Matilda for this fantastic achievement!! Emma says she can’t wait to do it all again next year!
